Bulova novelties 2022
Joseph Bulova »Commodore« – a tribute to the founder
Joseph Bulova founded the Bulova brand in New York City in 1875. In 1912, Bulova established the first manufacturing facility dedicated entirely to the manufacture of wristwatch components in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. This factory remained in operation until 1985.
The Joseph Bulova collection pays homage to the brand's founder and the history of Swiss watchmaking. The limited-edition automatic watches are designed in New York City and manufactured in Switzerland using the finest Swiss movements. Each timepiece in the collection is limited to 350 pieces. The collection's distinctive designs are inspired by Bulova designs from the Art Deco era of the 1920s through the 1940s. Each design incorporates signature elements of Bulova watches from that era—interpreted with an eye for the modern consumer.
Inspired by the original Bulova Commodore from 1935, this model features a classic round case with rounded, open lugs and a dial with elegant, clear Arabic numerals highlighted by modern hands. A date window completes the dial. All Commodore models are made in Switzerland from stainless steel and feature sapphire crystal and an open case back displaying the fine Swiss automatic movement. Each case back is engraved with the Joseph Bulova signature, "1875," and "Swiss Made." The fine alligator-textured leather straps in black or brown feature the Joseph Bulova signature and "1875" embossed on the inner leather. The bracelet models are available in elegant stainless steel or gold-tone stainless steel.
The “Parking Meter” Chronograph
Paying homage to the iconic original, the return of this coveted classic is reimagined in a distinctive dial configuration resembling a classic parking meter—giving this model its notable nickname—"Parking Meter." This distinctive timepiece features a silver and slate blue stainless steel case with a silver-white dial featuring a classic parking meter design.
The new, limited-edition "Parking Meter" also features a sporty padded, quilted brown leather strap with a pin buckle and water resistance to 100 meters. With only 5,000 individually numbered pieces worldwide, this highly sought-after watch is exclusive to Bulova and a must-have for watch enthusiasts who want to own a unique timepiece that's part of Bulova's rich history.
MIL-SHIPS-W-2181 Archive Collection
Brand new to the Archive Series is the MIL-SHIPS-W-2181, based on a prototype that never saw commercial release. Inspired by a timepiece developed for the U.S. Navy, this sports watch features a unique paper strip on the dial that indicates if moisture has entered the watch and changes color when its water resistance—up to 200 meters—is no longer met. Another unique feature of this watch is that the top ring only rotates when pressed down.
The matte black dial is set within a stainless steel case, and the slate blue NATO strap is made of a finely woven nylon material that can withstand constant contact with water. This unique watch is versatile enough for everyday wear, but has the features to compete with any other sports watch on the market. The case back features a relief "Master Diver Helmet," and the finely woven nylon NATO strap is designed to withstand constant contact with water.
